1st Age Friendly Business Recognition Programme

Ireland’s 1st Age Friendly Business Recognition Programme was created by the Louth Age Friendly Business Forum.

The Age Friendly Business Forum was established by the Louth Economic Forum. The forum is chaired by Gavin Duffy, Louth based Entrepreneur, Media Coach, RTE’s Dragon’s Den Presenter and Public Speaker. The Forum has 10 members drawn from Louth’s Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, Netwell and CASALA Centre’s, Louth’s Older People’s Forum and Local Authority Management.

In preparing the Age Friendly Business Action Plan the Forum consulted with all relevant stakeholders including Louth’s Age-Friendly County Alliance, Louth’s Older People’s Forum, the Business Community, Louth County Development Board and Louth County Council Members. All feedback was carefully considered and adopted where appropriate. This process of consultation provided invaluable insights into the age-friendly concept, and agave the Forum excellent support and encouragement for the Action Plan.

Start Your Own Business Course for people aged 50+

As part of the Age Friendly Initiative the Louth Age Friendly Business Forum, in partnership with the Louth County Enterprise Board, are delighted to tell you about an exciting Start Your Own Business Course for people aged 50+ commencing in September.

This course will provide participants aged 50+ with an introduction to the essential elements required to start up and run their own businesses effectively. The main content from our standard Start Your Own Business course has been tailored to tackle issues more relevant to the over 50s.

It will be an excellent opportunity for anyone over 50 who wishes to learn the practicalities of starting and running a successful business including people who may be in retirement and wish to start a business or people currently working and who wish to take steps towards starting and running a new business. Ardee Age Friendly Business Training

As part of the Louth Age Friendly County, an Age Friendly Customer Service Delivery Workshop was held on 21st March 2012 in the Ardee Day-care Centre. The workshop was delivered by Dermot McConkey , Managing Director of McConkey Performance Management Limited (www.mcconkey.ie).

Their clients include many of Ireland’s leading companies including most of the major Irish Banks, Building Societies & Insurance Companies. They also work with companies in the Manufacturing, Optical, Building, Hotel and Service Industries. Also present at the event was Gavin Duffy, Chair, Louth Age-Friendly Business Forum and star of RTE’s Dragon’s Den series.

The event was FREE OF CHARGE and was an ideal opportunity for businesses to learn how to tailor their delivery to meet Age-Friendly practices, which in turn, has major potential to increase business profits.
